Survivors: And Still, I Rise
An immersive art exhibition by groundbreaking artist Kat Shaw, to empower, inspire and uplift all women, marking International Women's Day 2020...
SURVIVORS: AND STILL I RISE.
85 women, 1 artist
Inspired by the poem And Still I Rise by Maya Angelou, Kat Shaw’s exhibition focused on representing stories of women who have survived something: trauma, physical illness, bereavement, disability, mental health issues, abuse, prejudice, etc. - the list was endless.
They all had scars – visible or invisible.
And Kat took their scars and painted them into beauty.
Women from all over the world each sent a photo of themselves to Kat, together with their survival story.
These paintings and the exhibition day celebrated the strength of women, serving as a reminder that although we all have past stories, they do not have to be our endings, and we continue to rise as warriors.
Kat used her art in "And Still I Rise" to explore, express and narrate physical and emotional pain and endurance, empowering women to rise and remember their Goddess energy.
