Pole Queen

Pole Queen

Never let society’s shame and other people’s expectations stop you showing up in your body however YOU choose to.

Kat not only paints women’s bodies into glorious Goddesses, but she also uses her own body as activism to break through the unrealistic barriers that stop women from feeling love for their bodies.  There is only ever one type of woman’s body that is glorified and celebrated as being beautiful in society, so as a disabled, 50-year-old, overweight woman, a pole dancing studio would not be the stereotypical place to find her! But Kat began pole dancing 2 years ago and has been documenting her journey ever since – sharing the fails as well as the wins, the struggles as well as the successes, and the realistic photos of her body that rolls, wobbles, has cellulite and body hair and does not 'look' how modern culture deems it should.

Kat also seeks to change the perceptions of women, encouraging them to exercise and move their bodies for love, joy and health, rather than as punishment and a way to minimise their bodies to fit into the acceptable norms.

"Since I have started sharing my pole journey, I have had so many women who were previously too embarrassed to step into a gym or begin exercising who have messaged me to thank me for inspiring them to just DO IT!!!" says Kat.

"Women have taken on my “fuck it” attitude and stopped hiding their bodies, instead starting dance classes, burlesque, stepped into swimsuits to start wild swimming, joined walking clubs and even started pole themselves – one woman even joined a hula hooping class!!”

Kat continues to empower women to embrace their bodies, smash stereotypes and own themselves for themselves.
